I started my journey by giving birth to my 3 wonderful children and enjoying being a stay at home mom. I gained my love and passion for the birth world when I was invited and witnessed a few of my friends births of their children it was an honor and joy to be able to assist my friends and family while they were growing their families.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, and I am a trained Postpartum Doula through CAPPA, and became an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2010; I have been helping women with breastfeeding for over 10 years. I have worked in several hospitals (Santa Monica and Arcadia) doing rounds in Postpartum, Labor and Delivery, and NICU. I also have worked with WIC (Women Infant Children Program), taught support Peer Groups with the Sistah Connection and have provided breastfeeding support to women and their babies in the Native American communities.

I eventually felt the call of Midwifery on my life while helping mom’s with their breastfeeding babies and after attending many births. I started Midwifery school in 2013 as a student at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego, California and graduated in November of 2016. I became a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife in California December of 2018. I am dedicated to improving the well being of mothers and babies specifically in my African American community due to the alarming maternal and infant mortality rates.

Ultimately, my passion is to empower ALL women and that is by partnering with each woman, seeing each woman as being uniquely created, and respecting and nurturing each woman’s experience during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
